RE:  PRODUCT SAFETY RECALLS

Dear Valued Daiso Customer;

As you may have recently learned, Daiso has voluntarily recalled several toys and children's products and is restructuring its product safety program as part of a renewed commitment to Daiso customers.  Recent changes in U.S. consumer product safety laws have created extreme challenges for all companies, and in some cases products were sold that comply with Japanese product safety laws, but did not meet all U.S. requirements.  We are aware of no incidents or injuries involving these products, but we deeply regret these events, and we want to tell you what we are doing about it.

First, Daiso is conducting a voluntary recall of several specific products in the following item groups:

1.Children's wooden toys; due to small parts and potential choking hazards;
2.Children's toys, coin purses and pen cases; due to lead in paint and phthalates;
3.Children's stuffed animal toys; due to small parts and potential choking hazards;
4.Children's jewelry (bracelets and necklaces); due to high levels of lead; and
5.Children's rain ponchos; due to drawstring in hood, posing as a strangulation hazard.

If you believe you may have purchased one of the recalled products, please log on to our recall information website, www.daisorecall.com, for more information about each item.  If you own one of the recalled items, please immediately remove it from your child's use and properly dispose of it, or return it to Daiso for a refund of the purchase price.  You may return recalled items to any Daiso retail store or arrange for post-paid shipping by calling our toll-free recall hotline at (888) 580-8841 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PT, Monday through Friday.

Second, Daiso has voluntarily withdrawn its stock of toys and children's products from all of our U.S. stores on a temporary basis, and we will not reintroduce them until we have implemented a comprehensive new product quality and safety program.  Our new program, which has been developed in cooperation with U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, involves our suppliers, shippers, outside safety consultants and one of the world's largest independent testing laboratories, which has been certified by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to test toys, children's products and other consumer products, to ensure that our products comply with all applicable governmental regulations and industry standards for safety.

Thank you for your patronage and support.  Again, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused you.  Daiso is committed to quality and to the safety of its customers, and we hope to regain your trust and confidence in our products through our most diligent actions in implementing our new and comprehensive product safety program.  Please call our toll-free number if you have any questions.
